The Curious George Foundation was established by Margret Rey in 1989. (H.A. had died in 1977.) The purpose of The Curious George Foundation is to fund programs which help creative (and curious) children and also programs which benefit animals, especially those that prevent cruelty to animals. In addition, this foundation provides financial assistance to community programs which emphasize the importance of family. Margret's other philanthropic causes included funding a center for alternative medicine at a Boston hospital and contributing to the Boston Public Library.
